There was a lot of buzz in the days preceding Google’s presentation on October 6. After unveiling the newest iPhone and Galaxy flagships, all eyes in the tech world turned to Google to see what it would do with this year’s Pixel.
Google took advantage of its time on stage to introduce its marquee products. It’s no surprise that Google released its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones this year. If you keep reading, I’ll tell you everything about the new models that have just come out, the features they’ve added, and the components that make it all work.
The Models
On October 6, 2022, the world learned Google’s worst-kept secret. It was widely speculated that Google would unveil the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro during their October 9 event. Still, those speculations were put to rest by the formal announcement of the devices.
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are similar to the design of Google’s 2017 flagships. Be aware of the Pixel 7’s subtle design changes into thinking it is marginally better than previous year’s smartphones. These new handsets are the most powerful Google has ever made. This is all owing to the brand-new and powerful Google Tensor G2 processor. The new Tensor G2 is a significant improvement over its predecessor in terms of speed, security, and energy efficiency.
The Pixel 7 comes in three colors: obsidian, snow, and lemongrass. Standard storage on the phone is 128GB, and users may pay extra for up to 256GB if they want.
Pixel 7 Pro comes in Obsidian, Snow, and Hazel. The Pro model has a 512GB storage option, which is not available in the standard model.
The Design
With this year’s Pixels, Google did not experiment much with the design. The phones have a similar design to those released last year. There is IP68 water resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass on both phones. Furthermore, both are constructed entirely from reclaimed resources.
While the Pixel 7’s 6.3-inch OLED panel is limited to 90Hz, the more prominent 6-7-inch display on the Pixel 7 Pro can reach a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Brightness has increased significantly on both displays. Google estimates a brightness increase of around 25%.
The Cameras
Both versions of the Pixel received a major camera update in 2022. The Pixel 7’s back camera has two lenses: a 50MP primary lens with OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.
The Pixel 7 Pro also has a dual-lens camera system. A third, 48MP telephoto camera is included, however. This third camera has both an optical and digital zoom range of 30x.
Macro focus mode, Photo Unblur, and Super Res Zoom are just a few new photo-enhancing capabilities shared by the two models.
New Features
Like previous years, this year’s Pixel showcased a wealth of innovative new smartphone capabilities. What this new chip allows for is:
Among its many enhancements are more significant battery life, higher-resolution photos, enhanced gaming performance, and the highest-quality videos on a Google smartphone.
As for Google, they’ve also stepped up their security measures. Google has committed to providing five years of security updates and three years of platform upgrades for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Moreover, Google announced a new virtual private network (VPN) service that would be included in all of this year’s flagship smartphones at no extra cost when it debuts later this year.
The Specs
The Pixel 7’s entry-level variant has a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (FHD+) OLED Smooth display. The phone has a 4,355 mAh battery with a more than 24 hours capacity and supports quick wireless charging.
The Pixel 7 Pro’s more prominent display is a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED Smooth Display with a refresh rate of up to 120 frames per second. The Pro version also has additional storage space available. Indeed, 12GB is the correct answer. More than twenty-four hours of use time are stored in its 5,000 mAh battery, and it can be charged quickly using wireless power.
The Price
When a new smartphone is as reasonably priced as the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, it’s much simpler to get enthused about it. While Google isn’t exactly giving its products free this year, its selection is still hundreds of dollars lower than those of its prominent rivals.
The base model Pixel 7 costs $599, while the more capacious 256GB model costs an additional $100. The higher-capacity Pixel 7 Pro comes in at $899 for the 128GB model, $999 for the 256GB model, and $1,099 for the 512GB variant.

Conclusion
Even though Google didn’t change the design of their new flagship phones, the improvements they made on the inside were significant enough to warrant attention. Many of the updates are made possible by the lightning-fast Google Tensor G2 processor; the new cameras are excellent, and the cost of either model is very low.
